It’s landed.... Honda’s CRF 450L

Am I right in stating that we have the strangled version due to Euro4 and the Yanks have the full fat version.... as they seem to be crowing about that on the other side of the pond...

Not that I know of. But the Yanks have more terrain that suits the bike perfectly. And to be fair there’s nothing wrong with the bike other than the price.

Far from me berating the 450, I do love it and if money were no object... I would have one. There is a lot of misinformation about power....

Plus YouTube isn’t the most reliable source of information...but time and again they do make these claims.

I doubt the big H would get an engine wrong, but as you say, the pricing is way too salty.

Only two major things put me off. The price and why detune a perfectly good engine. Other than that. I like it. I don't love it, I just like it  A bit over stated for a weekend warrior off roader TBF. Just saying Angel

They have detuned the engine to increase the service intervals and therefore making the bike being able to be used for longer reliabily. For example the CRF450R that the engine comes from needs an engine oil change after every 5 hours of use, gearbox oil changed every 8 hours, valve check every 30 hours and new piston/ring every 60 hours!!

Disgusting those intervals.

Noticed that the CRF450L is on offer with a price reduction...

Ironically.... a smidgeon away from its nearest competitor.... KTM 690.

Read an interesting ditty in Bike Magazine.... CRF450L is deemed to be a bit of a turkey and a whoppingly over priced one.

They say it’s a lovely bike, but overall the 250L beats it hands down...for less than half the 450’s price...

Shame really as I think the bike is good, but the price was ridiculous. I see you can get one for £7995 now, still a bit much in my book.

Think bike manuafacturers in general need to learn disposable income is not what it was.

Definitely the cost of biking is rising disproportionate to income, but have you noticed that despite the obvious sky high costs of new bikes that used are rising faster than new?

Look back 12 months, and a good 3 year old Triumph Sprint GT could be £3.5 from a dealer, now that same spec is nearly £5k.... with a higher APR if buying on credit...

Perhaps the squeeze isn’t trade greed.... more necessity to survive.

Cast your minds back to the late 80’s and this happened then....could we be seeing the start of the death nell of the bike industry again....?

I do think that because new prices are getting extreme more people are buying used, which pushes up the used prices. But less new bikes being sold means less used bikes available so it’s all going to implode at some point.

It surprises me how many models the manufacturers are offering. I’d expect them to streamline and refine.

Finally an answer for the poor 23bhp on the 450L:

Upgrade to 40bhp?

I’ll stick with the KTM...
